Hello everyone!
remember we have two dates to work to!
We need the first set of street name ideas for the old Emily Street and Ford Street by Friday 1st February!
The second set for the remaining streets we need to have by Friday 29th February!
Over the next few days the blog will change ever so slightly as we try to get the electronic maps and the blogs to work together, so if it changes do not worry!!!
Remember if you have any questions or queries just let me know! You can put your comments in the comments box.

During the Boy's Group last night we discussed names for the new streets and a couple of suggestions were made.
Alan Crow remembers from talking to older residents there being a fishmonger's shop in the area and suggests that this could be remembered. I'm tempted to propose Fishmonger's Place (or Plaice) on his behalf!
We also discovered the existence of the old Felling Council emblem of a blazing oak log with leaves and acorns still attached, known as the 'Burning Brand'. (This was the basis for names like Brandling etc. that followed.) Perhaps this theme could be included in the naming system? 'Burning Brand Walk'?

Further to our reference to The Burning Brand emblem, I came across the following verse about it in a search of local history sites -
"Like as the brand doth flame and burn
So we from death to life should turn"
Seems particularly appropriate when you consider that this is a new community coming into 'life' following the 'death' (by demolition) of an older one.
